If you feel somewhat insecure when it comes to
finances, you are not alone.
A recent
study conducted by Allianz Life
Insurance (August of 2006) found that the vast majority of women
(90%!) feel somewhat financially insecure.
That’s an amazing
statistic!
It means that almost all of your women friends, perhaps even
you, harbor some (often secret) fears about money and their financial
future.
The most surprising
thing I’ve learned in working closely with women and their money issues is that the feeling of insecurity has
nothing to do with their level of income, education or lifestyle.
I’ve worked with millionaires who feel just as insecure
as the average-income woman.
How
can that be true?
Most women simply haven’t had access to the knowledge
they need in order to stand on their own two financial feet.
How many women’s magazines have you read that
really explain finances and investing beyond listing tips for
saving a few
dollars at the grocery store?
When you don’t understand something,
a natural instinct is either to close your eyes and hope it all works out
(or better yet, goes away!), or turn it over to someone else and
hope they have your best interests at heart. You’ve probably noticed that neither method increases
your sense of security.
Unfortunately, when it comes to finances,
hoping without knowledgeable action does not lead to financial
security. It mostly
leads to quite the opposite. That’s why almost half (46%) of women
harbor the fear that they could become a bag lady. An
even more interesting statistic: almost half (48%) of women making more
than $100,000/yr. also feel this way!
No kidding...
You
no longer have to fear becoming a bag lady!
I am 100% certain that
every single woman is capable of standing on her own two financial feet.
Why am I so absolutely positive?
Because
after
working with women in all kinds of different financial
situations - from being debt-ridden to those who are
millionaires - I know that
when women stand up for themselves and make the commitment to change their relationship
with money,
they are well on their way to financial freedom.

"In retrospect, I came to our first class
numb from the gaping hole the market had just gouged in my
401K. I signed up because something had to change - I just
didn't expect it to be me! No one could have
convinced me that in a matter of weeks I would possess more
confidence about my financial future - even in THIS crazy time -
than I ever have in my life. But that's what
happened. Megan says, 'No one will ever care about your
money as much as you do.' And since she knows all too well
how old and hidden so many women's fears about money can be, she
will calmly and wisely teach, coach and provide the tools you
need until you do, too.
All I can say is, sign up for this class!"

companies or any individuals other than my clients. In this
role I have helped many women shift from financial
insecurity to financial confidence. I’d love to show you the
simple step-by-step secrets to competent financial management and
peace of mind.
It all starts with this engaging and informative evening:
|

So
why should you listen to me,
Megan Gelhar?
Personal
experience: I have been through the mill myself when it comes to money. I lived in financial denial for
years and
did many foolish things with my money. Nine years ago, I
shifted significantly when I became clear about a new dream for my
life. As I moved forward, I began to learn about the importance of
lining my
spending up with my core values. Using new financial practices, it
only took 14 months for me to pay off an $11,000 debt and save $19,000 to
finance my life's dream. As they say, if I can do it, anyone can!
Public
experience: I have been coaching individuals, speaking and leading
workshops in the public and private sectors for 25 years.
I am an independent financial
educator:
Most of the financial seminars out there are lead by “advisors”.
These advisors are actually sales people who get paid substantial commissions
from huge financial institutions once they convince you to deposit your
money into
their mutual funds. I work
for myself. I don’t represent any companies and I don’t receive any
kick-backs from a resource that I might recommend. I would only recommend
a book, an individual or a company for the same reasons I’d
recommend a restaurant: because I think their services, skills and
track record are superior.
This is MY business and my goal is to teach women about
finances. You don’t need to learn how to micro-manage every little
detail, but you do need to know how to determine if an advisor is
truly qualified to look after your money. You do need to learn how
to understand what your financial person is telling you and you do
need
to begin the process of becoming better educated. In less time than
you think your knowledge can outweigh your
fears and insecurities.
And that spells peace of mind.
Holistic approach: My work with women is holistic. The
mental (beliefs),
emotional (feelings), spiritual (consciousness) and
practical
(skills and knowledge) aspects around money must all be addressed in
order for you to experience lasting change. But I promise you - the proof
that this process works will begin to show up in your bank account.
Soul-deep commitment: In meditation four years ago I received a vision and a
calling: women need to be empowered financially so they can be a
sorely needed and effective force for peace, balance and healing in the world. I am
devoting the rest of my life to this vision of helping women be
financially prepared for whatever Life asks of them.
Proven success: I have already
helped many women turn their lives around. In a moment I’ll let
Heidi tell you her story: for her, taking just one baby step made a
huge difference in shifting her core fears with money.

It
really isn’t that hard to become financially
confident and
competent!
Remember
- For a lot of years now women everywhere I go have been telling me
that they want to learn about "this stuff." I get
that. But I also get that you need it to be understandable. And I
hear from so many that women prefer learning with their friends in a
non-threatening, safe environment. So, that's what we'll do. And we'll have
some fun too, because it’s ladies night out - so the fun is
already built in!
The
challenge here is to stop believing all of the limiting self talk that
has kept you from acting on your own behalf, to stop
listening to the voices in your head that say you can't do it. That
pattern will only result in staying frozen.
Here’s Heidi’s story! I love it! One very small, easy step shifted her out of her
fear into a whole new relationship with money.
"How
a simple sentence helped me
overcome my fears about money!"
~
Heidi Syropolous, MD
“I
was a woman with a broken relationship to money. And by using a step-by-step process that I learned from
Megan, I am fixing it!!
The first step is to “clarify an
intention”. I wrote
out “MY THOUGHTS OF MONEY ARE PEACEFUL” and then posted it
all over my house and at work. My hope was to prevent palpitations
and sweating every time I even THOUGHT of money! I look at
these notes at least 25 times a day and I am happy to say that I have been successful. It's
a funny sort of psychological trick, I realize. But
I knew I needed to take some kind of step, even if it was a
baby one. My
main problem was my fear, so I wanted to start at the core. This little exercise also takes NO TIME!
I now find myself thinking of money more freely. I hear someone next to me discussing the housing bubble and I
don’t even bat an eye, despite the fact that I will be selling my
house within the year! A
man came to our house to discuss fixing our air conditioner and I
actually talked to him with my husband. Previously, I would
always disappear because discussing or negotiating
any kind of expenditure caused catatonia!
And success of all successes…
spontaneously and without warning, I opened up the Sunday paper and out fell an entire
6-page section entitled MONEY. I have no idea what possessed
me but I thought, 'Well, why not read it? It won’t
bite. I’m sure there will be many things I won’t
understand, but go ahead and read it.' So I did. I
read the entire section, every word. I broke out in hives a
little every time I read the
word dividend, but I did finish it!
And that is my success story. A baby step. A
first chapter.”

“I
used to think money management was about numbers, just
tedious and boring. But actually, it’s about fascinating
issues – our core values, how our relationships work and
what’s most important in our lives.”
~ Anne Selpian, cofounder of More Than
Money

how great it will feel to be able to explain financial
concepts to your children and friends, possibly saving them from
costly financial errors.

how great it will feel when you actually have the
knowledge and confidence to question your financial advisor's advice!
